Ted Quant is the director of the Twomey Center for Peace Through
Justice, based at Loyola University in New Orleans. The Twomey Center
seeks to shape social justice consciousness through education, and to
take action on critical social problems confronting society.
The Resurrection of Cooperatives
Harvey Reed, Louisiana Association of Cooperatives
Harvey Reed, a native of New Orleans, is presently the Executive Director of the Louisiana Association of Cooperatives. His primary function is to help in the development of cooperatives. He has over 20 years of experience in the agriculture & economic development areas. These areas have allowed him to participate on the Board of the New Orleans Enterprise Community Congress as the last President. The organization keeps an eye on in helping to empower communities in targeted parts of New Orleans Enterprise Neighborhoods.
Mr. Reed is a graduate of Southern University and an Alumnus of the LSU Ag Leadership Program and serves on the LSU 4-H Foundation. He is also a board member of the Metro-New Orleans AgriBusiness Council and the MarketUmbrella.org (Crescent City Farmer’s Market). Through Reed’s Agriculture Services, Inc., he also consults with agencies and private organizations on matters pertaining to the agriculture issues. He has also worked with Delgado Community College in the Horticulture Department as an Outreach Coordinator by teaching horticulture skills to inmates in a local parish prison and establishing a summer program on campus for high school students in the Signature Program who were involved in the Medical Health Science Curriculum.
He is also a Master Trainer for Ag-BioSecurity which helps in the prevention of safeguarding our agriculture products. And he is member of the AgroKnowledge Organization at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which promotes agriculture education throughout the United States. Since 1998, Mr. Reed has been a member of Metro-New Orleans Master Gardeners which services the community with horticulture assistance and advice.
