Planning is key to reduce stress, uncertainty, and provides a roadmap to the future. Many successful organizations and individuals spend a lot of energy and time developing plans and succeeding in their careers and personal lives. The objective of this workshop is to provide participants with a tool which will help individuals build focus and direction in their own personal life and cooperative business. The outcome of this workshop is for each participant to develop a draft of their own vision and mission statement and learn the basics of developing one for their cooperatives.
Ruben Hernandez is the founder and president of Four Elements Global, a social venture consulting firm that specializes in the integration of the environment, community, the enterprise and the individual to foster and sustain social and economic development. Mr. Hernandez has been part of the worker cooperative movement since 2006 and he’s a current board member at Rebuilders Source, a worker cooperative in the South Bronx and a project of Green Worker Cooperatives. Prior to founding Four Elements Global, Mr. Hernandez worked as a management and system integration consultant at Accenture, the largest management consulting company in the world, where he worked in more than 15 different projects at more than 10 different companies in the North America and Europe. After leaving Accenture, Mr. Hernandez became the Chief Financial Officer at TUMIS, a worker-owned company in Oakland, California. During his tenure at TUMIS, Mr. Hernandez was the chief architect in implementing new business processes and systems that helped the company increase its sales by 150% within one year.
