Position Title: Economic Justice Pillar Manager

Duration: Full Time, Ongoing Hybrid, 80% Remote, 20% In person.
Compensation: $60,000-$70,000 per year depending on experience; generous and progressive benefits including medical and dental care 100% of premiums paid by Unite Oregon, paid wellness leave, vacation, flex time, and personal days off; technology reimbursement; 4 hours personal time off/week, $300 annual FSA contribution, 2.5% 401K contribution after 6 months.

Position Description

Unite Oregon is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Economic Justice Manager who is passionate about breaking the mold of “business as usual” and committed to rethinking how to create our own economic pathways for our communities. We are looking for someone who is passionate about economic justice and has a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within communities of color. This role is not for someone content with the status quo; we are seeking a change-maker who will champion equitable economic solutions that challenge conventional practices. This Manager will lead the Economic Justice team, working toward solidarity economics practices. The position reports to the Community Development Director.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities, in collaboration with other departments and staff, are as follows:

The Economic Justice Pillar Manager will work with the other Pillars, Chapters, and the Economic Justice team to explore and integrate alternative economic models, create tools to implement an economic ecosystem that generates collective wealth and asset creation through avenues for low-income immigrants, refugees, and other people of color.

Key Responsibilities

Create a solidarity economy framework within which the Economic Justice Pillar operates.
Organize, advocate, and create systems that favor collective ownership, equitable growth and sustainability, challenging existing exploitative policies and practices that perpetuate inequality.
Create a path for alternative economic models that centers innovative ways to expand and share community skills and resources.
Identify and set up training for staff and community to grow knowledge about and implement cooperative economic models.
Partner with other Pillar Managers to ensure all work is advanced within a holistic, integrative, abolition oriented framework, rooted in organizational values.
Foster, support, and guide the Economic Justice team toward healthy and sustainable practices.

Project Management

Support the team with grant reports.
Manage and track project expenses and deliverables.
Manage project invoices.
Develop, support, and oversee the state-wide Economic Justice program.
Coordinate communication support for projects both internally and externally.
Work with a team to effectively document activities and outcomes including time and project tracking, participant goals, action plans, project progress, activities, and achievements.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage team, interns, and volunteers as assigned.
Overseeing team performance and development.
Effectively delegating tasks and setting clear priorities, timelines and goals.
Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new department staff.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

Three years of experience.
Ability to work independently and take initiative, possess strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Experience working in social justice and/or with diverse communities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, people management experience.
Bilingual and/or bicultural candidates encouraged to apply.
Ability to travel to meetings and events across the state as necessary.
Availability to work during evenings and weekends as needed.
