Kateri Gutierrez [EN / SP] sher/her/hers
Kateri is a cooperative developer and consultant based in Los Angeles. She founded Collective Avenue Coffee, LA County’s first worker-owned cooperative cafe, in her hometown of Lynwood, and later sold the business to three women worker-owners. She co-founded COOP LA, a partnership among Southern California cooperatives that trains new co-op startups. Kateri has worked as a financial feasibility analyst with Project Equity and ran a small business investment fund and produce distribution operation at Inclusive Action for the City. She spent four years at Deloitte in government and public sector consulting, most recently as deputy PMO lead on California’s largest public benefits modernization project. She holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BA from UC Berkeley. Kateri advises in English and Spanish, and writes on cooperatives and Latina entrepreneurship in the Harvard Journal of Hispanic Policy and for Emerald Publishing.
