With the changing landscape of foundation funding and USDA priorities, we are looking to boost our organizational development. OSW seeks a highly skilled Grant Writer to secure federal and non-federal funding through grant-writing, managing donor and funder relationships and enhancing the organization’s overall development strategy.
Required Qualifications
• A lived-experience belonging to the Black Diaspora.
• A passion for, knowledge (or curiosity to learn) about topics around sustainability, agriculture, self-directed learning, and equity as it relates to Black and Indigenous folks.
• Knowledge or willingness to learn about food justice, Black agricultural history, and regenerative food economies
• Demonstrated experience in grant writing and successful grant applications
• Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong budget development skills
Self-driven, needs little oversight
Compensation
This position will be paid on a monthly retainer basis at $4,000 a month, with the expectation of an average weekly time commitment of 20 hours, with fluctuations depending on grant deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience comfortability writing state, local, federal and social justice foundation grants (includes familiarity with grants.gov, sam.gov and login.gov)
• Experience working with a nonprofit organization
• Possess a robust network of prospective donors and funding partners
• Program/project management experience
• Experience networking with funders
• Experience with cooperative agreements

Organizational Background: OurSpace World (OSW), is a rapidly expanding, Black-run nonprofit organization focused on supporting and educating Black farmers, builders and healers in developing successful and sustainable business practices to grow local food ecosystems. Our organization supports an array of programs from youth programming support, on-farm training, consultant-training and technical assistance support. We support the sustainability of emerging agricultural projects through business development, grant-writing and strategic partnership support to make sure our network farmers and food producers are thriving and working cooperatively.
