Pledge your commitment to labor neutrality here
In 2025, the USFWC membership voted unanimously to endorse labor neutrality as a standard for the cooperative sector. (Read the resolution here.) Labor neutrality is when an employer commits to taking no position for or against their workers organizing and to voluntary recognize a labor union without requiring an election facilitated by a third party (commonly through a “card check” process).
We are now calling on USFWC members and the broader cooperative sector to take the next step and make a public commitment to labor neutrality in their organization. This is a call to action for all types of co-op businesses, nonprofits, support organizations, and networks alike. Pledges will be made publicly and listed on the USFWC’s website. By publicly committing to respect workers’ rights, we are proudly demonstrating the cooperative difference to workers and leaders across the US. Read more here about labor neutrality and why we’re organizing co-op organizations to commit to it.
This effort is led and organized by the USFWC’s Union Co-ops Council (UCC). If you are interested in getting involved, go to the USFWC’s calendar to join the next UCC meeting (on the last Wednesday of the month at 4PM ET / 1PM PT).
Are you a worker interested in organizing around issues at your workplace? Are you an employer interested in learning more about how to cooperate with organized employees in your workplace? Join us at the UCC and reach out to the Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee (EWOC).
