I am an immigrant mother from El Salvador, and I have resided in NYC for two decades. I joined Golden Steps Elder Care Cooperative Inc. in 2013. Being part of the cooperative has helped me develop skills and abilities that have enabled me to provide high-quality care. It has also motivated me to further my academic education; I am a proud first-generation college student, currently in my final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services at NYC College of Technology. I serve as a member of the Advocacy Council for the NYC Network of Worker Cooperatives (NYC NOWC). In November 2023, I launched my second cooperative venture, United Community Consulting, LLC—a women-led cooperative where we serve the community through community organizing, educational workshops, outreach, and support for victims of domestic violence, among other initiatives. I believe in the cooperative movement and in creating positive change and impact within underserved communities.
