Seeds Branch Coordinator
Fedco Seeds – Clinton, Maine
About Fedco
Fedco is a worker- and consumer-owned cooperative based in Maine that has been serving gardeners, farmers, and orchardists since 1978. We are committed to sustainable agriculture and providing high-quality seeds, plants, trees, and supplies to customers across the country.
Position Summary
Fedco Seeds is seeking a collaborative and forward-thinking leader to guide one of the cooperative’s core businesses. This full-time, year-round position provides strategic, operational, and people leadership for our vegetable, flower, and herb seed product lines.
The successful candidate will lead product development efforts, help drive branch profitability, and work with coworkers across the organization to strengthen Fedco’s mission and values. We are looking for someone with strong communication and project management skills who can develop a long-term vision for the Seeds branch—identifying new opportunities for growth while honoring its founding principles and central role within Fedco.
This is a collaborative leadership position centered on decision-making, relationship-building, and organizational development rather than being the sole executor of day-to-day tasks. The Seeds Branch Coordinator is supported by a dedicated team committed to helping Fedco grow, live its values, and serve our customers and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Seeds Product Development Team, including seed trials, purchasing, budgeting, pricing, inventory, seed retail racks, and school fundraiser programs.

- Research, select, and expand seed offerings in alignment with Fedco’s values, customer needs, and market opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, customer feedback, and industry developments to maintain Fedco’s competitive position and identify opportunities for growth.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to support data-driven decision-making and measure branch success.
- Oversee branch budgeting, pricing strategies, and financial performance while identifying opportunities for operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with seed laws, labeling requirements, germination standards, and maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies.
- Help develop the annual catalog theme, contribute catalog copy, and collaborate with the catalog, marketing, web, and product teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with growers, suppliers, universities, trade organizations, and industry partners.
- Represent Fedco Seeds through publications, conferences, trade shows, and other public events.
- Partner closely with the Seeds Operations Branch Coordinator on finances, personnel, facilities, and overall branch direction.
- Lead, develop, and support a high-performing team while fostering a collaborative, customer-focused culture.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in the seed industry, farming, horticulture, sustainable agriculture, or a related field.
- Knowledge of plants, seed production, and agricultural systems.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience, including the ability to listen, delegate effectively, and build accountability within teams.
- Strong financial and business skills, including budgeting, pricing, profitability analysis, and KPI tracking.
- Strong analytical and data-management abilities, including advanced spreadsheet skills.
- Experience with ERP systems preferred, and Acumatica experience is a plus, but not required. Candidates with strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to think strategically, identify growth opportunities, and translate long-term vision into action.
