Black governed non- profit organization focused on developing urban and rural BIPOC cooperatives and strengthening BIPOC cooperative ecosystems, seek highly motivated individual committed to working in community development, and wealth building in a fast-paced, real-world cooperative and small business environment.

 

The position requires combination of in-person and remote work hours in providing technical assistance and support services to BIPOC cooperatives based on principles of economic justice and racial equity. This will be a valuable experience for any person interested in strengthening a career in community economic development, small business development and entrepreneurship business management.

 

CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THESE SKILLS

  • A strong interest/background and/or willingness to learn worker-cooperative business development, entrepreneurship, and business development
  • Experience with coordinating and facilitating trainings with groups ranging from 10 to 20 people.
  • Ability to learn quickly and high interest in developing a variety of new skills; able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; can work both autonomously and within a team.
  • Willingness to engage culturally with the cooperative members, and other individuals and organizations supporting the development of BIPOC cooperative businesses.
  • Experience interacting with stakeholders as well as supporting cooperative members with public speaking engagements and networking.
  • Superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated experience of written and oral presentation skills.
  • Entrepreneurial/Small Business skills are preferred.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Assist coordination Black CoopNomics Academy based on the academy curriculum.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Supporting the various coop teams with leadership development of members.
  • Coordinate with attorney legal business incorporation and governance of coops.
  • Assist with ongoing technical and leadership trainings.
  • Assist with developing plan with coops for marketing strategy.
  • Maintaining cooperative contact database/member information.
  • Assist with guiding coop members with developing sales promotions, e-newsletters, and updates to their website.
  • Assist with coordinate cooperative symposiums and public events.
  • Assist with coordinate cooperative symposiums and public events.
  • Languages: Able to write, read and speak fluently in English and Spanish is helpful
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Community Development, Business, or related field.
  • Business development experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse Black governed for profits and nonprofits on organizing and building sustained ecosystems.
  • Experience with working in Latin@ immigrant communities. Work in other immigrant communities is a plus.
  • Must be a strong verbal and written communicator in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with media, and communications messaging a plus.
  • Proficient Microsoft Suite, CANVA, Google Suite
  • Flexibility working hours minimum 30 hours weekly
