Call to action: Demand that the Department of Labor preserves fair labor standards for domestic workers

The Department of Labor recently released a proposed rule which would permanently strip fair labor standards protections from home care workers, and is already taking actions to remove enforcement of current regulations.

🚨 On July 25th, the Department of Labor (DOL) issued a bulletin instructing Wage and Hour Division (WHD) field staff to immediately cease enforcing minimum wage and overtime protections for home care workers. Rather than waiting for its own rulemaking process to conclude, the DOL has preemptively abandoned its responsibilities toward this vital workforce. Read more about this on PHI’s website.

The USFWC encourages cooperators and all supporters of domestic workers to submit comment to the federal register regarding the damaging effects of such a rule change, and to encourage a longer comment period to ensure voices are heard. This toolkit includes context, what actions to take, reference resources, and a template for submitting comment.

➡️ Access the toolkit to take action here and let us know at policy@usworker.coop if you submitted comment.
