Space Cooperative Launches Social Network for Citizen-Led Blockchain Space Agency

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Space Cooperative, an international worker-cooperative focused on space expansion, has launched Space Decentral (spacedecentral.net) a social network for space and the first mission control center of a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) powered by blockchain technology. Space Decentral will propel the vision of a spacefaring civilization into action and enable participants to crowdsource, crowdfund, and implement the next generation of citizen-driven space initiatives. The organization has released a brief of its white paper with today’s announcement.

Space Decentral aims to expand and democratize permanent human presence in space, making participation in space expansion more accessible to all citizens of our planet, by utilizing decentralized governance tools for collective decision making.

“We all need to take the long view and work together to create the system that sustainably makes humans a true spacefaring species,” said Dr. Marc M. Cohen, co-owner of Space Cooperative and former NASA Ames engineer. “We may not complete the effort in our lifetime, but we have an obligation to humanity, to begin.”
